Magnify Together - Psalm 34
I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
- Psalm 34:1-3 KJV
Reading the Psalms for me has been a great joy. Truth is, though I have read the Psalms many times over the years, I have never set out to read all 150 on such a rigid schedule. I have never written devotions about them, though many have been in my sermons. As I have read through them with you this time, though we are only 1/5th of the way done, I have been amazed at all the reasons the writers have given us to praise and worship God.
He is good.
He helps us in our times of trouble.
He is our provider.
He is our protector.
He is our Shepherd.
He loves us like no other.
He is ALWAYS there.
He delivers us from our fears.
Never have I been so overjoyed by the simple truth that God is with us. All day. Every day. Every joyous occasion. Every fearful moment. Through every tragedy. And his presence is enough.
I want to praise him for this truth. I pray you do too. But I do not want to just praise him alone. I want to worship him on my knees with YOU. I am asking, will you magnify the Lord with me? Will you exalt him with me?
In Hebrews 10 we are told that we should not forsake the gathering together of the assembly. Rather, the writer tells us we should gather together all the more as we see the Day of the Lord approaching for the purpose of encouraging each other. When I hear what God has done for you, when I see you magnify the Lord, I desire to do the same. Hopefully the same is true when you hear me tell of the great things of God.
Together, on our knees in worship. What a beautiful picture of the church! What a worthy God we have to worship. Will you join me?
See you Sunday.
