“I have a dream!”
“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!”
"Four score and seven years ago….”
“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”
Throughout history their have been some great words spoken. Words that can encourage us. Words that can make us laugh. Words that can make us cry.
Words are powerful. They have the ability to change the course of history. One well-worded sentence in a much-needed time can change everything.
But no word that we can come up with can have the power of the Word of God. Scripture, or the Bible, has been known to change the hearts of men and women on contact. In fact, God has promised that his word will never return void. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and has the power to cut to the heart and soul of a man.
Today you should be reading Psalm 119. This is the longest Psalm. In fact, it is the longest chapter in all the Bible. and it is totally dedicated to explaining just how great the word of God is. It declares that the way we keep our lives pure is by being in the Word.
As you read this Psalm., think about the blessed gift God has given us in the bible. It is his love letter written to us. Imagine trying to navigate this world without its teaching, direction, and passion. And when you realize just how blessed we are to have the bible, fall to the ground in worship of the One who gave it to us.
